White Party 9 in Mexico City was a major success – a great party that also raised money for a great cause! Chris Cox played with Mexico’s Jose Spinning and Brazil’s Alan Natal.

I was recently asked how I did something from this, so I pulled up the session to review it for the first time in years. It may not sound like it, but it was SO much work! Well over a thousand edits and a few weeks worth of work. Remember, this was BEFORE Ableton and other programs were magically changing and locking BPM’s. Every song was a different key and BPM. I worked from the multitrack sessions the label sent. The total size of the session was over 60GB and was created and mixed in MOTU’s Digital Performer.

At no time (except the “Toxic” bit at the end) are there any less than 3 Britney songs running at the same time. The goal was, of course, to make a smooth/seamless piece of work that played like a single composition. For my own entertainment, though, I put in parts and elements from songs other than the one your are hearing the vocal for. For instance, when “Oops, I Did It Again” is playing, there are musical and drum parts from “Crazy,” “Stronger,” “Toxic,” and “One More Time.” All of this running with my own keyboards, drum programming, and sound design.

This was a long and brutal project, but it was really rewarding when finished. The songwriting and original productions are so solid that I never tired of hearing them when I was working in the studio. I’ve done a few projects for Britney, but this was by far the most fun and gratifying!

For the second year in a row PerryEtty vs. Chris Cox will perform a full-assault set on Saturday during the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago’s Grant Park. Their set last year exceeded expectations and surprise many people with their blend of DJ driven electronic dance music fused with live vocals. They will be sharing the stage at Perry’s with Chuckie, Joachim Garraud, Pretty Lights, and The Glitch Mob.

Festival headliners for 2011 are Eminem, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Muse, and Deadmau5.

If that wasn’t enough, PerryEtty vs. Chris Cox will also be playing official Lollapalooza after parties on Friday & Saturday.

Friday’s show is at Chicago hotspot The Mid and will also feature sets from Afrojack, DJ Reza, & Orville Kline.

Saturday’s afterparty will be at the famed SpyBar and they will be joined by Joachim Garraud, Junior Sanchez, & DJ Reza.

Special guest Trent Cantrelle gives us a wrap up of the Electric Daisy Carnival 2011 in Las Vegas. He also plays his EDC opening night main stage DJ set!

PerryEtty vs. Chris Cox have been added to the lineup for this years installment of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival happening April 15-17 in Indio, CA. Coachella has been one of the best music festivals in North America for over a decade, and Perry Farrell is the only artist to play every year!

Hot on the heels of the performance at Lollapalooza, Chile last weekend, the group is primed and ready for a great set incorporating DJ performances, live vocals, and overall party madness!

Set time is 2pm Saturday at the Sahara dance tent.
